He is rude to his mom because she lets him get away with it. Maybe his dad is rude to her too and the kid is just following his example. You never know. Point is, his rudeness is only a symptom, not the disease. I think I would go to the mom and ask her why she lets him treat her so badly. Point out that a boy who treats his mom like shit will very likely treat his future mate like shit too. Maybe it will make her think about what kind of man she's raising. Maybe not. Ultimately, you are an outsider and you can't fix it. HOWEVER, If this kid offends you with his behavior, don't be afraid to say so. Loud and clear in language he can understand.
