One thing we do is after the presents are open, we go through their old toys and donate the ones they don’t play with/use to charity so that some other lucky kid can have some toys. Or sometimes, if there are just too many toys, have them choose a new one they just got and donate it, or if they know another child from school, church etc who may not have had the same type of Christmas, they can wrap the gift again and give it to them. Most walmarts/churches etc have a tree where you can adopt a child or give a gift etc. They will get to see the joy of giving and that may just bring the point home better than a lecture….
